MITM 2014 will be quite different from years past. We're going to take a break from all the usual bits and pieces and piggyback along with MINI Takes The States and take MITM On The Road. We're still working on the logistics, but we will be doing some kind of MINI5280 sponsored event in Grand Junction on July 29th when MTTS rolls into town. And for those participating we'll also be doing our own motorventure from Grand Junction to Albuquerque, NM that will go thru Snowmass Village, CO.

Why Snowmass?

Snowmass is the site of our 2015 MITM! We'll be back to our usual tricks for 2015, along with some newer opportunities. Keep your eyes glued to the newsletter, the various pages on Facebook, mini5280.org and minisinthemountains.com for updates. We have a host hotel already, and will post reservation details soon.
Expect updates on activities for both the 9th and 10th annual MINIs in the Mountains on a regular basis moving forward!

Seems like a long way from the Front Range. What about those who want to come up just for a day -doesn't that make it logistically impossible from Denver?

It may be a bit further from the front range, but we are a driving club, and a driving event. It is only another hour and change further west than Avon was this year. Consider coming up on Friday night if you only want to be there for Saturday.

We are a national event, and as such can't show favortism to the Denver Metro area as we pull attendees from all over. Part of the draw of MITM is that we change locations every few years so you can experience new drives, new events, and new activities.

Snowmass will supply all that and more.

All, as you probably know Minis In The Mountains (MITM) 2014 pared down to a linked on-the road trip and promotional trip with Mini Takes The States (MTTS). Basically we will sponsor an event in Grand Junction with MTTS and promote MITM 2015 along the whole way. With that I am putting together a small committee to put together our plan. I am looking for 3-5 Committee members to work promotion, sponsored event, etc for the MITM 2014. I am planning to have our first committee meeting the end of March. Probably we will meet somewhere in central Denver area to lay out some ideas and plan our way ahead. MITM 2014 Committee Meeting


We are going to have our first meet up for the MITM 2014 planning team. We are going to meet at Jim N Nicks BBQ Restaurant on 13 Apr at 1:00 pm.

During the meeting we will put together the committee members and identify the specific areas we will need for MITM 2014. As you know MITM 2014 will be primarily a promotional event, but we are working with MINI USA MTTS team to support the events during the stopover of MTTS in Grand Junction 29-30 Jul. We have a few ideas floating around on how to promote MITM 2015 and some things to do in Grand Junction. Please bring you ideas to the meeting so we can get moving. Please let me know if you will be attending so I can give the restaurant fair warning. If you can’t make it please let what you would like to help with and any ideas you have so I can bring them up at the meeting. I'm looking forward to connecting with my 5280 buddies for MTTS in GJ. I live over on that side of the continental divide so I was really glad to hear they were coming through GJ. The Snowmass route to Albuquerque sounds interesting? Have you laid out the route? I thought MTTS would just shoot south of Grand Junction through Durango but I haven't seen the actual plots for the route. Who has these?

 

MINI USA/MTTS will do the direct route, MINI5280 as a club will offer the alternate route(that is a maybe BTW on this). MINI5280 is still in the design phase of the route, and MINI USA/MTTS will hand out the route the day of the event (their normal MO).

MITM planning team, sorry for the short notice. I wanted to see if we could meet again this Sunday, 1 Jun. I made a reservation at Colorado Mountain Brewery at 1pm. The Brewery address is 1110 Interquest Parkway, Colorado Springs. It is just off I-25 at Interquest north Colorado Springs. there are a couple good roads to get there. From Parker you can come down Highway 83. From west Denver you can take Highway 85 to H-105.

At the meeting I would like to finalize our pick for the MITM 2015 item to put in bags during MTTS, final stick/patch, window sticker advertisement, etc. Also we can work some details for parking volunteers, DIY Car wash, and some other details.

I know it is short notice. If you can make it great. If you can't please send me your thoughts, ideas, etc on our planning.

All, I am putting togehter a volunteer list for the Grand Junction eventing event. we are working with MTTS for the club to help out with parking. We need approximately 10-15 people to assist as parking guides to get all the MINIs in the main parking area. We are still working details with MTTS but is should be only a couple hours on the eventing of 29 Jul. If you would like to volunteer please respond in this post and provide your name and T-shirt size. Yes you will get a MITM 2014 T-shirt.

MITM2014 Volunteers, We are going to meet at the Holiday Inn, 2751 Crossroads blvd in Grand Junction. This is where we will have the car wash set up. You can stop by anytime in the afternoon. Our volunteer effort is to help MTTS with parking at their evening and morning event. We will meet at the Allen Unique Autos at 2285 River Rd for both events. Please meet us on 29 Jul at 6:15pm and then again on 30 Jul at 6am. We will just be trying to get everyone parked in the space provided.
