OBD-II cable for R53 Mini Diagnostics?

I’ve got access to the DISplus software and CD 39.0 needed to update the jcw 200hp tune in my DME to the newer 210hp JCW tune. The thing I still need, is the cable to connect my laptop to the OBD port in the car. I’ve searched and searched NAM for the proper OBD cable that I need for the R53 mini. Even going back 10 years, guys were having all kinds of problems finding cables that would work. Some would work, some didn’t, some needed to have pins jumpered out….on and on. Now fast forward 10 years, and I still can’t find any information on a reliable cable I can buy….that is guaranteed to work.

Is there anything new out that I can get that will work? What are you guys using for NCXexpert, and DISplus? Any info would be great…right now I’m running into a wall.

Thanks!

Have you used this to determine the transmission temp. I would like to use it specifically for this purpose, mainly to check fluid level.

Is the software included or do you need to buy another suite.

I haven't used it to check the transmission temp, but it comes with two CDs with several programs on them. If it can be done, it probably comes with the software to do it.
I've basically just used it to enable auto up windows, door lock settings and other BC1 options.
I believe it says in the listing which programs it has. The only drag was that it took about three weeks to get here from Bulgaria or wherever it was.

How user friendly is the software? I've heard some other people say that something the software that some of the cable manufactures send is really tough to figure out....

Sounds good, just ordered one

Maybe I can figure out a way to make DIS V39 work on it, so I can play around with upgrading my JCW to the 210hp tune from the current 200hp tune it's got.

Well I ordered this software package. It didn't take a long time to get here but the customer service sucks. I am having problems loading the software and the guy automatically give me no choice and said that the only way he will fix it is to remotely access my computer and charge me $120.00 to finish. I have been fighting my way through it and found that they didn't give me the full software so I have been emailing the guy and he said that if I gave him access in the next hour he would help. The next morning (today-Sunday) I email him again and he said that I didn't email him right back so he is pissed about working on a Sunday. I will see what happens next, if I was not in such a bind, I would tell him off and send it back.

UPDATE----The guy got back to me and accessed my computer remotely. He found issues wrong with my computer but also found that he sent me the wrong discs. He fixed the software enough to get what I needed done, reset the transmission adaptations and said that he is going to send me new discs as soon as possible and told me that if I needed anything else to let him know and he would get back to me as soon as possible.

It turned out that things worked out. This morning I would have told anyone that I was sending this stuff back, but now, I think I would actually go back to them if needed. Things work out in the end, my pessimist butt needs to be more patient and think positive.
