Tyre size advice

I need to replace the tyres on my Cooper S and need done advice on what size to get.

The wheels are Rota Blitz 17x7.5 with an offset of 35. The car is lowered on BC racing coilovers and currently has 205x40x17 as they came with the wheels.

My research has left me a little baffled, as some say I should have 205x45, 215x40 or 215x45

I want the right size tyre that will give me no rubbing issues, any other suggestions?

Judging from the picture, you got a decent drop of around 1.5"
you should be fine with 215x40.
Which will eliminate all of the gap you currently have.
It is very possible that 215x45 will result in rubbing on the fender.

Cheers, will now start the process on deciding which tyre!

Currently running 235/40ZR17 on Rotas with no rub. Not dropped yet but Dan at MachV ran on dropped springs without rub so shouldn't be a problem.
