Hankook Ventus Hrii H405 or Toyo Proxes 4 quietness
>>How quiet are these tires? TIA
Meanboy,
What are you going to use the tires for? Street mostly and some autocross of just street?
Quietness usually refers to using tires for street and commuting. Both these tires not sold by tirerack.com

For the Hankook Ventus HRII H405 Tires
The Ventus HR II is a an ultra low profile with a wide footprint for aggresive handling in tight turns and better performance on wet roads.

Dry/Wet traction 4.7/4.5
Ride comfort/Noise comfort 4.6/4.4
Overall 4.5
sample size/price-
215/45R17 wear rating 340-A-A H87 Load rating $101.99 each
The price difference is about $10 per tire. The Ventus has a longer wear rating but doesn't have the traction nor the ride or noise comfort of the Toyo Proxes 4 which are new tires.
If I had to buy one I'd opt for the Toyo before the Hankook.
Another good tire to consider for overall performance and ride but not as cheap is-
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Tires
Exceptional traction and handling in a European-Designed Ultra High Performance Radial.
Features:
* OneTREDTM design and V-TREDTM technology for powerful dry grip and superior wet traction.
* AAtraxTM tread compound provides "AA" wet traction rating.
* Race-bred tire offering a crisp, responsive, uncompromisingly smooth ride.
* All sized equipped with rim flange protectors.

Thanks! Very helpful.
I was thinking of using one of the tires on our Lexus first. Edge racing has the hankook dirt cheap in 245/45/17 so if they were decent I would give them a shot.
I don't know about the coop though. I think it's mostly going to be street with a little autocrossing. I would like to get new rims for it once I get it but first I need an alarm and cd changer..or IPOD first. And I need to put the xpel on. Then I'll move on to the wheels and tires.

On a Lexus the Hankook ventus would be OK. The Toyo Proxes 4 would be better. Your choice.

Use up the runflats first. Then consider the Goodyear Eagle F1 or maybe Bridgestone Potenza Pole position S-03 but both tires are a little more expensive but very good performance. Both good for street and some autocross or occassional track.
The proxes probably are the safest choice for the Lexus. The Hankook is about $68 a tire plus shipping it's really hard to pass up on trying a set out. The toyos are about $30 more a tire but it's not like I would be replacing those all the time so an extra $120 would be spread out.
I was thinking of using the runflats up until they were dead and then swapping rims. The spare tire thing is hassle though but it would probably only be needed on road trips.
