Meet-n-Greet in Billings, Montana - anyone interested?
There are at least 10 Minis in town. I thought it'd be fun to have a simple meet-n-greet on a Saturday or Sunday for an hour just to get to see all the other Minis in town.
I really want to see that "Sparks" Mini with the funky paint job and the lettering on it. It's a rolling advertisement for an energy drink called Sparks (sp?). Apparently, you can win that Mini somehow. Haven't seen it myself, but I'd really like to.
Anyone up for a Billings meet-n-greet this summer? Just reply to this thread or PM me.

I just got my MINI about a week ago and I would be interested. But… It looks like we are the only ones from Montana that are members of NAM… err… the new and improved NAM 2.0!  Have you found a time and place yet?
Hey MINI-IZED, I'm still waiting for Randy to announce his Open House down in Denver. I'm going down for a 19% pulley install. Randy was supposed to announce the date yesterday but haven't heard anything yet.
As soon as he announces, I'll get back with you on a time and place. I know you prefer Sunday. Perhaps a Sunday afternoon just after lunch, maybe 1:30 in the side parking lot at Barnes & Noble or Shopko? There may not be many cars there so we'd have a little room to spread out. At Shopko, it's definitely an empty parking lot, but it would be more fun by B&N.
Cheers,
Dan

The Billings Meet-n-Greet is on!
Date: Sunday, 27 June 2004
Time: 1 pm - 2 pm
Where: Borders / IHOP parking lot on King Avenue West in Billings. This is the parking lot on the south side of Borders / IHOP that is up against King Avenue West. That part of the parking lot is less crowded than the other places.
I'll be there. If any other Minis show up, so much the better. :-)

Maybe you should pick somewhere a little further south and get some of the Colorado folks to drive north. I know - Sturgis! We could start our own wild times and show those wimpy Harley riders how it's done
Lunch at noon at the IHOP, if anyone's interested

Well this is just great, three days before the mini MINI meet and I wreck my MINI.
Damage isn't real bad but it is not drivable.
I may still show up in my backup car (82 Toyota Corolla) if that is allowed. Or I could show up with my MINI loaded up on a flat-bed trailer with a big bandaid over the
damage.

The Douglas rally of '04, it has a nice ring to it.
Montana Minis Far From Dealers
Hi, Montana folks.
I see Mini-ized, DanStoren, and MichaelHass.
Looks like all Billings folks, 350 miles east of me here in Missoula.
There are at least half a dozen Minis here; I know 3 of the owners. I'm enamored of the Mini, and I don't mind going somewhere else to buy one, but service looks like a challenge. It looks like you're in the same boat. I'm told "There's roadside assistance, they'll come get your Mini wherever you are and take it to get it serviced," but having my car dragged to Boise or Seattle isn't appealing. "They say they're going to expand their dealer network" sounds a bit better, but when and where?
Do you have any advice or recommendations?
Oh: if I had a Mini, we could meet at the Bozeman MacDonald's.

Hi JohnDough,
Well, one of the Minis here in Billings made the trek to Denver, and while he was there, made a visit to Randy Webb for some add-ons, plus track time at Second Creek Raceway.
So by turning a scheduled service visit into a vacation, it works out.
Big Sky Minis helped me change my oil.
As for unscheduled service, such as the time I ran into a curb during an autocross or my Mini friend crashed on the street here in Billings, a trusted local body and service shop repaired the damage just fine. They ordered parts from Schomp in Denver and did a good job.
All in all, it works, you just have to put some effort into the relationship. :-)

I'm mostly concerned with glitches and gremlins, the kind of stuff it takes an Expert to mess with, but I don't think that's a showstopper. I'll know more in the spring.
