What offset for 17" wheels?

I'm thinking about selling my factory 17" S-lite wheels and going with some nicer, lighter aftermarket ones. The S-lights are 17"x7" with 48mm offset. All of the aftermarket wheels I've seen have either 45,42, or 40mm offset. What do I want? I'd like a little wider stance, but I don't want anything rubbing either.

I will be running 215/45/17 tires...not the stock 205/45/17's. They are just a hair wider.

Any info would be great! Thanks

which Mini do you have? I'm looking at the ultraleggera for my r55 (clubman S 2011). Any problems with them? Any rubbing on the install (tire rack mentions that they may rub in their disclaimer)
thanks

I've got EtT40s and my 215/45-17 AD08's rub as I'm lowered 30mm. Might be better with normal tyres as the semi slicks are oversized.
