Of course, of sales don't take off, this may just happen.

+1!
I'm not a Paceman fan myself, but Jalopnik does seem to really have it in for the car for some reason, which is really odd given things like these exist.

The fact that an individual doesn't like certain car doesn't mean that it shouldn't exist especially if it is a profitable seller for the manufacturer, case in point the "Juke", it's odd looking like some MInIs but it is a big seller and a very good car overall.

Hi, I don't have a Paceman. But as a long time Jalop reader.. let me inform you.
They hate *with a passion* the -
Honda Accord Cross-tour
BMW M/X/5/6
Acura ZDX
Paceman
Nissan Murano - Convertible
ETC... anything that is clearly a crossover/attempt at being something to fill a niche it does not need to fill. They hate the Paceman, because in their mind - its was already done, and well done as an R56 Hardtop. Making it bigger, and adding AWD = a market they hate.
Why do they hate that market?
Its viewed as Faux Sport. Its not good at any one thing. Its not a SUV, its not a wagon, its not really fast, it handles less than its counterparts. Its only bigger, slower, and generally considered "ugly".
Its also a weak market. Its a market grasp at that .001% of people who want "something that can do it all", and in Jalop's view its a needless grasp.
(These are my observations, I personally don't mind the Paceman.. I might not understand it, but its not "horrible"..).

I disagree. the Paceman is basically an R60 with two less doors and a lower center of gravity. The R56 does not have the available ALL4. We had an R60 (ok base) and were contemplating an R59 in addition to it. Decided to take an R61 ALL4 out and fell in love with it. OK so it doesn't have the visability in the rear and may look a bit different but it is more comfortable and handles better on the curves than the R60. BTW it is also quieter.
It would be one thing if the guy came up with a legitimate reason or two why the car needs to die. Redundant and useless? That's far from a short list. Hopefully anybody considering a Paceman that might stumble on this garbage will see through the lack of substance and see it's just a personal hate thing. I can see the point that the JCW may be a bit excessive in the sticker, but he did not make that distinction. I am quite happy with mine -- even more so now with the JB+ tune. And now that I've gotten to play with it a bit in the snow, well, it just validates the choice of the All4.
