Gauging interest on a RMW tuning party - NORTHEAST!!!
Whats up NAM? I've been looking into a bunch of tuning options lately and have yet to come up with a conclusion on what to go with.....until I came across the idea of these tuning parties that are being held with Jan from RMW. I was going to try to make it to the tune event in Florida in February until I found out that Jan from RMW will come to us if we get atleast 6 people that are interested in getting their MINI's tuned. At the event in Florida the cost is $450 for a first gen (r50-r53) and $600 for a second gen (r55-r59) and then $50 for just a dyno pull and print out. I don't see why the prices would be any different here but if there was I don't see it being more than $50+-. If anyone in the NORTHEAST (NY, PA, NJ, CT, VT, DE, etc.) is interested in getting together for a tuning party like this please pm me or reply to this thread and lets get this started!

I'm interested. need a retune on mine. where in the northeast are you at? I'm in CT. we had a tune party done here a few years ago at Swift motorsports in Norwich. it was the 350 for the tune and I think 100 for the dyno time.
I'm in the tri-state area, literally directly on the border of pa ny and nj, I was thinking of having the event in the spring time most likely march or april.

If he runs the tuning party and JAN is on site YOU DO NOT need the remote tuning box, as Jan will do the work with the MASTER programmer.
That is why tuning Parties are popular, everyone saves money

. Also fwiw, should this be moved to the NE sub forum?
AFAIAK its a must to have the tool. Many people revert to stock when going to the dealer for maintenance or warranty work. I can't tell you how many updated tunes Jan has sent me over the years. That would not be possible without that client side tuning tool.
Not trying to start a flame war here but if the OP can pull this off, I will be impressed. Over the years there have been many threads like this trying to gauge interest to set up a date to have Jan come out to tune and then after a while... nothing.
I am interested and subscribed.

Its very true that it is hard to make come together, but it can be done!
Couple of Basic things:
1) You have to be 100% dedicated to making it happen
2) You have to find a Dyno that you can use
2a) that the dyno owner is going to let you run and to what extent
3) You have to find out when Jan will be available
4) You then have to co-ordinate those two
5) You have to find a minimum of 6 people for Jan to be able to afford to come do the work
6) You have to pick Jan up at the Airport and Make Provisions for his stay.
7) You have to be willing to work all day at the tune party (for no pay)
8) You need to get deposits to make sure that the ones that say 'interested' really are! [money talks and BS walks]
9) If you want refreshment there you gotta buy them, OUT OF POCKET
10) Give yourself at least 3 months to let people get on board, save up for the final product, and get you a Deposit.
If anyone has anything else to add, please do so, maybe making a thread on "How to hold a Tuning Party" would not be a bad thing.

I'm interested for later this year spring/summer. In NY, but ok with Philly or CT if needs be. Helix did a RMW event last year. They probably have a good relationship with RMW and, as you probably know, are pretty much the go to Mini modder in the area.
Sorry all didn't realize this thread would blow up this quickly lol. But to answer most questions...1.) MOST IMPORTANTLY THIS EVENT IS NOT SET IN STONE AND HAS NOT BEEN 100% SET UP YET. 2.) I am trying to set this event up most likely in late march or april. 3.) The deposit for this event will be $150 avoid anyone from backing out last minute and that money will go towards the cost of the tune. 4.) I just emailed the guys at Helix to see if we could hold the event there in Philly. There is also another dyno I know of that might let us use theirs in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania. 5.) Up to 10 people will be getting a tune so that means the first 10 to get their deposits in will reserve their spot for the event.
I think I covered the basis of what questions were asked and thank you all for your interest. If there is anything I did not touch upon please feel free to PM me. And a big thanks to cooper for helping me through this whole thing you've been nothing but help!
