New NYC Mini Owner
New NYC Mini Owner
Hi all,
I just bought a preowned 2013 Mini Cooper S loaded with most all features. I bought the car in Washington, D.C. during the Holidays but now that I am back in NYC, I wanted to see if there were other Mini owners out there that could recommend a good service rep at Mini of Manhattan or another Mini dealer in the area as inevitably I will find myself there at some point. I stopped by there a day or so ago because my car was missing the Y-cable for the iPod. The person I was talking to there was a little less than helpful so I'd like to get recommendations on that end.
Also, are there any good parking garages that charge reasonable prices anywhere in Manhattan? I live on the UES and most garages around here charge around $500/mon to park. Looking for something in the $150 range or less. I'm doing street parking now but would rather avoid getting my bumpers destroyed.
Thanks in advance,

Congrats on your purchase, great car, I hope that you didn't miss the NYEE run last night, it was a blast motoring around Manhattan. In terms of the dealer I hate Mini of Manhattan whenever I do go to the dealer ( not often as I try to do most of my work) I use Prestige Mini in NJ Rick Torres is a great SA. Also MINI of white Plains will usually give you a discount parts.
As for parking can't help you there but I doubt that you will find a 150.00 garage in Manhattan at least not in the winter, I have a parking space in the Bronx and I pay 225.00 but it's an assigned space and I park it myself and take my keys with me the non self parking is 180.00, I guess that if you only use your car on the weekends you could find a cheaper price uptown but not where you are.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. I agree with Minibx as I go to Prestige Mini in NJ even though I live in Westchester. I have not had the best experience with the Mini dealer in White Plains so Prestige gets my vote.
Congratulations and welcome! While MINI of Manhattan is not the best for service, if you must go (as I have had to in the past), speak with Maileen Cancel. She's usually very helpful.
As far as parking goes, unfortunately, you will not find garage parking for that price on the UES...especially during the winter season. You may want to try a 3M clear bra-type film and the bumpshox license place frame until you can find a garage. You can also try checking the classified ads on craigslist...often people will rent out their driveway/garage spaces.
And a small f.y.i. - If you're on a one-way street, try parking your car on the left side of the street as much as possible during the snow season. NYC plows push snow to the right side.
