cooper works ID ?
I am the proud new owner of a 2013 cooperS that I suspect may be a John Cooper works. A fact the resaler was ignorant of. I had been looking across our region for a low mi Cooper S all black w/6 speed manual. I had almost given up when this one popped up with 6000mi ! I rushed 1 hr from home to check it out. On test drive it seemed faster than the previous CooperS models I'd driven. Next I noticed that the bottom door frames and a small emblem on the steering wheel said John Cooper Works. ( I did not complain to the dealer!). It was exactly what I wanted anyway and priced equal to the higher mi Coopers I'd tested that didn't suit my color preference so I bought it on the spot. Did I just get lucky as hell
or are all Ss marked as such? It literally smokes and I love it whatever it is.

Run the VIN through the decoder on the left side of the NAM page. You can also run it through the RealOEM site and it'll tell you exactly what you have. You'll need the build date which is on the drivers side door post. Is there JCW badging on the engine valve cover?
Just about everything JCW is available as an option. The JCW interior package could probably account for what you've got. The JCW exterior package should account for anything exterior. If it doesn't have the aero kit, Red brake calipers, JCW badges front and back, its probably not a JCW, by 2013 that was all standard.
I think the only thing you can't get as an option on an S is the JCW exhaust tips. If you have beer can tips its probably an S. These are what the JCW tips look like:
