17" snow tires rubbing. Suggestions?

I have an '06 S gen 1 and just purchased a set of 17x7 wheels with 205/50/17 tires.
They look great but rub on bumps and tight turns. They were originally on a 2007 mini.
I love the look of the wheels and want to keep them
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Stock tires are 205/45-17, you can also use 215/45-17. Stock tire diameter is 24.3".

205/50-17 is too tall for the MINI (tire diameter is 25.1"), rubbing is to be expected. Even if you did trim the inner plastic lining of the wheel arches you would be rubbing. Similarly 225/45-17 is too tall and wide for the MINI.

You can roll the fender where it is rubbing or shave down the tire treads where it is rubbing.

You should avoid all tire sizes that are taller than stock when possible.
