John Cooper Works cold air intake

Category: Drivetrain
Price: $1
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R53
Location (Region): SouthEast
Item Condition: Used

I just recieved an alta cold air intake and will no longer be needing my JCW intake. It has 63k miles on it and came off of my 05 JCW. Ive owned the car since 60k miles and don't know the last time the filter was replaced so i'm sure a new one wouldn't hurt. I am willing to entertain any and all offers and/or trades. I do accept PayPal. If you need any pictures feel free to e-mail me at harrisongenseal@aol.com Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

P.s. I am fairly new to NAM so a little patience might be necessary!!!

Your JCW intake is comparable to any other aftermarket CAI. The only difference you will appreciate is a little more supercharger "Whine" but that is why a lot of people swap it out since there is really no measurable performance gain. Anyway, enjoy your new CAI.

To be fair though, the measurable increases would probably depend on what other mods the car has with respect to fuel managment/flow, DME tweeking, and diameter of the exhaust piping ( 2.25 vs 2.5 ). Those mods would probably appreciate corresponding demand of air flow.

Considering a new kit with all the bits and bobs including the control unit can be had for just over $400

I’ll offer a $100 shipped.

No offense to the OP, but when people started posting quasi auctions for their parts.

I’m sure he or she has an idea of what they want for a price. In which case my offer of $100 still stands.

I feel my offer of is good considering.

A. The new filter is $65
B. The OP does not say how complete the intake is.
C. The parts even the tiny ones are expensive for the JCW intake. The controller module alone is $165 and the vacuum tubing is $60. This may not mean anything to some people, but if an OEM install is what you’re after you need all the bits and bobs.
D. A NEW complete JCW setup is just over $400 and change after a 10% discount

JCW Intaks

I have this in My R53 and it works great! I DID make one modification to it by adding the rechargeable Mini Mania filter ( like the K&N type) instead of the paper element. It's rechargeable and DOESN't cost for replacement. It's a one time shot that breathes much better than the original and adds a little to the butt dyno.

If you are selling it, you have to include the firewall plate since it's different than the stock one with the proper cut-outs as well as the electrical connection to the ECU. I bought one here and they guy kept promising me that he had all the pieces.. all he had was the box itself so I actually bought another that was complete.

Personally I wouldn't trade my JCW for another intake since it is legal for all the smog testing, etc and there are many that aren't.

Good Luck whatever you decide.

Jim
