Koni FSD on '06 r53

I have 115k miles on OEM struts. I needed to change them at 80k clearly but alas had not the funds.

I have just replaced the oem oldies with koni fsd (gold) package. There is no question that the Koni is infinitely better on shitty city streets of NYC/Brooklyn than oem's first day i had them until last day.

The handling from fresh OEM to the Koni's is hard to compare. It doesnt feel a lot different, but it has been so long ago, I would not remember. I can say that the car does not lean very much if at all, and the oem's didnt either. I know I could put a stiffer sway bar and maybe add some strut tower mounts, but I want it looser for nyc driving and driving dates around mostly.

KONI fsd is what the car should have. it feels much more like a regular car on the sharp bumps. Below 15mph is not a huge difference unless you drive over a whole row of crap and then it's amazing.

I put 15" Konig rewinds on it and 205/60/15 Falken 9zx (forget the exact model). I am super happy with the car's ride.

I imagine if i had 16" and lower profiles, the difference would be immense.

Lower profile in the City and you may be bending wheels and mushrooming strut towers.

I agree that could happen. stock 16's plus runflats would have destroyed the car by now. the fatigue would be nuts.

We have 97.5k. 215/45/17 dedicated pilot super sports, and 185/65/15 winter. Time to do struts, but with the run flats off, it is very manageable.
