r50 filter housing.

I need to replace the gasket on my non s 2004 mini. Does anyone have a good procedure for this. I have the Bentley Manual but it isn't specific on the Filter housing. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello, This is for the Oil filter housing on the back of the engine in the passenger side corner ? The R50 does not have the additional oil cooler like the MINI Cooper S. So its just the main housing.

If you get a leak from the back corner only and right below the oil filter housing thats typical of the main gasket. But good to inspect the whole housing. Also making sure the caps on straight and the o-ring is not sliced.

You will have a little wire connection to the to the sensor to unhook then the three bolts. Make sure you change the filter and oil afterwards and when installing the new gasket make sure things are clean.

We have oil change kits here with the filter kit and oil plug unless you already have it.

Thanks and hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. It was very helpful. What is the best way to get these 3 bolts out? I can't seem to reach them from the top or the bottom.

the easiest way to do it is to remove the axle and then you can get to everything. Downside is the trans fluid will run out the axle hole. You an jack the car way up on the pass side and keep most of it in the trans, but some will still leak out.
A 13mm ratchet wrench will help get the axle out.

And we keep the oil filter housing seals in stock if you need.
