For those of you that have the press-on style pullies (the kind Helix and BMP used to put on cars), and want to compete in STX or Stock class, we now have the stock sized pullies that you can bolt onto your hubs. They are $80 plus shipping. For those of you who are running the smaller pullies in STX or Stock: YER A BOONCH OF CHEATERS! Let the protests fly.

I'd like to have my cake and eat it too.
Why don't ya have P&D make up some stock size pulleys to fit our taper bore hub's. I could then change over for summer/winter, autox G stock, drag race, coast to coast trip what ever.
I'd buy one.

Here is the question: Is a pulley that is the same size as stock considered a "stock" pulley according to SCCA stock class rules?

I'd be afraid that it would be grounds for disqualification because it is still a modification to the drivetrain even though it will provide no performance difference compared to the original stock pulley. . .

BGarfield, do you have any thoughts on this one?

Here is what the rules say. . .

Alternate components which are normally expendable and considered replacement parts (e.g., engine and wheel bearings, seals, gaskets, etc.) may be used provided they are the same type and size as the standard parts and used in the same location. This does not include camshafts, differential covers, or ring-and-pinion sets. Hardware items (nuts, bolts, etc.) may be replaced by similar items of unrestricted origin. These allowances are strictly to allow components to be replaced from alternate sources other than the original manufacturer. They should not be construed as an allowance to replace components with those which could be considered a 'higher performance' alternative. Safety wire, threadlocker compounds, and locking nuts are permitted.Parts available as replacements through the dealers parts department, the factory, or any other source which do not meet standard part specifications (e.g., hardness, size, etc.) are not legal in Stock Category, except as specifically provided elsewhere in these rules.
Seems to me like this might be in a very gray area of the rules. . . .

Someone had told me a while ago that this was brought before the SCCA and that a retrofit back to the same size pulley as stock/sts/stx was approved. Otherwise once SM always SM.

Stock size replacement taper bore pulley's

Not available that I know of.
As to the SCCA rules it appears the intent is safety and not allowing an advantage over other competitors in same class. duh
But beside that it sure would be nice in the event that something happened to the gas quality, supply, availability or seasonal driving requirements. What I mean by that is Winter gas and in my area driving during Winter condition's with snow and ice.
YuccaPatrol, I'm afraid if the rules were read in that direction a used MCS that had been altered (smaller pulley) could be returned to stock with an OEM pulley but not a stock sized taper bore. What a pain in the b^tt that would be.
