Ian Cull auto-up module v7 issue

Recently got the time to install after receiving. I did install and everything on it worked, i.e. fog lights on and the auto up feature was great; however the install knocked out the auto climate control lights. It would still display temperature and any of the little LEDs that light up when you select something, just not the backlight for all the symbols. Removed it and everything is back to normal. Installed on wife's '06 and the same thing happened.
Wondering if anyone else is having this issue with their module or maybe this version?

Been a while since installing mine, but if memory serves, the plug could go in two ways but only one way was correct, or something like that.

I had to use a photo image to make sure it was plugged in correctly I think. Another possibility is that one of the bushing pins for connector is bending upon install not making contact ?

All the pins are making contact and everything fits flush. I made sure that while everything was apart (pain) to make sure I covered as many possibilities as possible.

I've had problems with it since day one. I've called numerous times now and never got a return call or a person. I just finally removed it. In my case, nothing came programmed as it states. Then, following their own updated instructions only got my pass window working as promised. Then my aux driving lights began turning on and off randomly. Everything fixed itself when I removed it..

I'm sure others have had different experiences, but as for me, worst $$ I've spent on the Cooper. Total waste and no customer service either!

As a big fan of Ian and his modules from the early days, I think it prudent to note that these days it's distributed and serviced by FES Auto. It's designed by Ian, but his name shouldn't be sullied by any service issues.
Edit: correction, it was only Ian designed through V6 - V7 is an FES design

Agreed... Not an attempt to smear anyone. Seems like Ian was one who would go the extra mile for people.
