HPFP Warranty on a 2010?

My Mini seems to be suffering some of the HPFP issues. Does a 2010 Cooper S covered under extended HPFP warranty? I read that only up until 2009 that they had the extended warranty on them?

I may be wrong but isn't the HPFP covered under the emissions warranty which is 10yr/100k. I'd call your dealership and ask can't hurt

I thought I read somewhere that it was extended to 120K. What are the symptoms of HPFP impending failure?

The symptoms are stumbling when you cold start and it gets worse to start throwing misfiring codes.

I will have to call BMW on monday. Just thought someone here would know.

That's the beginning. Then mine went to 1/2 power mode on the morning of my dealer appointment and I limped to the dealer, luckily they're less than 5 miles away from me.

My car hasn't thrown any code yet but i expect to very shortly. IT has stumbling in the last 5-6days which is odd though so its acting 100% normal now. Temperature has been up and down so its not directly related to temperature.

In cold temps I kept getting half power mode, one day it happened twice and threw a full on CEL. pulled code with snap-on code reader, 2C01 code came back, high press fuel, low plausible pressure. Would only error during cold weather, below 30*, it would drive fine though. Brought it to dealer, it's there now. HPFP is covered until 120k miles. With codes like that or any HPFP related codes, the dealer will replace the pump, they don't shrug that stuff off.

I just phoned the dealer and they said that my specific VIN is not covered under warranty. Only certain cars are effected.

Are they correct or they shrugging me off?

That can't be right, bmw can't make hpfp's for the life of them, even newer DI cars still have the issue. I'd flag mini of NA on this one

Mini Canada says that the 10year recall is a US thing and only applies in the US.

how does the same part fail in one country and not in another when i'm only 1.5hrs away from that other country! Don't tell me climate because Toronto and Upstate New York get the same climate!

My 2012 Countryman has been initially diagnosed as High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP)failure. The car would stumble on a cold start up and then eventually idle smoothly with no disruption of power (yet). The engine symbol has appeared and has stayed on.
Question? Is the HPFP covered under warranty? My car gas been on the road since April 2012 and has 53000 on the odometer.

I know this thread is a bit dated, but was surprised to get a letter from Mini today stating they are extending the HPFP warranty on our 2012 MCS hatch out to 10yr/120k mile..

Would that apply to the 2010 model year? Before, the warranty only went up to 2009 cars.

Is there a TSB that can be looked up to confirm?

Good question, I don't know. Was very surprised to get the letter as I also thought the extended warranty was only for up to 2009 cars. I would call a Mini dealer and give them your VIN, or call Mini directly (866-275-6464)..

I had that replaced in March 2016. I bought my car used in Nov2015. Went in and it was under a factory warranty up to 120k miles. And my car is a 2011 mcs

I think that is only for recalls, not warranty extensions..

Got my letter today extending the HPFP warranty on my 2011 MCS to 10 years/120k from original in service date. Since mine was already replaced under my aftermarket Hendricks warranty, I wonder if MINI will honor this if the HPFP should fail again within the 10 year/120k timeframe?

From some of the threads on NAM, seems the answer is no.

Mine is a 2012 with 103K and it was replaced a couple of weeks ago under the warranty. A letter came in Monday stating it is 10yrs.

I need to call my MINI dealer tomorrow and find out what's going on. I wonder if they will cover the HPFP even if it had been replaced previously under factory or aftermarket warranty, since this seems to be a new addition for the 2011-up models. I would think that any previous replacements would not be counted whether under factory or aftermarket warranties, as this is a NEW extension. And, would they not know that at some point, this part may have been replaced under either factory or aftermarket warranty? Why did I get a letter if they knew that my HPFP had already been replaced?
Motoring On.

To follow up, I spoke with my service advisor at MINI of Escondido today, and he said that the HPFP warranty extension on my 2011 MCS would cover as many HPFP's as my MINI needed within the 10 year/120k from original in service date. I asked again "not just one?", he said as many as your car needs, even if it's one every month, until 10 years/120k miles, whichever comes first. I wonder if MINI USA will tell me the same. Maybe I will call them tomorrow.

I haven't received a card about my 2010 MCS. Do I need to be registered with Mini somehow? I am signed up for the 'owners circle' on the Mini website.

I have no idea on that one. I never registered anywhere, to my knowledge/recollection when I bought my 2011 used. I did buy it from a BMW dealer. It makes no sense to me that 2009 and 2011 are covered, but not 2010. If you are close to a MINI dealer, they can use your keyfob to read info on recalls and extended warranty info. I would think that you could also call your nearest MINI dealer and give them your VIN to see if there is anything outstanding. My 2011 MCS initially missed the first extended warranty by less than one month of production date. Now, it is included.
