I'm going to be istalling a new ported and polished head on my Cooper S and I was looking for suggestion on what other have been charged for the labor of installing it only. Not for the head and install. I will supply the head all I need is an Idea on labor. thak you

Most manufacturers have every single install calculated to the quarter hour. I bet if you asked your dealer what their work book has calculated for replacing the head they could give you a pretty close estimate. Than you would know how to compare it to what a dealer would charge, based on that dealers hourly rate.

For an accurate estimate ask yourself if there are any items that might block access to the cylinder head like a strutbar or anything else.

Call Randy Webb at Webbmotorsports.com or Eric at Helix13.com and ask for a labor estimate. Maybe 5 hours but it may depend on the shop.

I just got my head and cam installed. The cost was $1080. There were others shops that were cheaper but they had never worked on a mini. Where do you live??

I charge 5 hours of labor at $75 per hour, and it usually takes about that long as well. I have heard of anywhere from 4 hours to 8 hours being charged, so it will vary quite a bit.

Where are you, and I would be happy to recommend a shop if I know of one in your area.

Randy
