I ordered my MINI in August, I think. It seems so long ago. A couple of days later I got an estimated production date of 10/25. Then a couple of weeks ago, I finally moved from "on order" to "scheduled for production".

So, what is the deal? Is the production date the day they start making the car or the date they finish making it?

The production date should be the day it makes its way down the assembly line. I feel for all of you who have ordered a Cooper S - the dates seem terribly long compared to the Cooper. I may change my mind about this depending on how long mine takes. I ordered it last 8 days ago and was given an estimated production date of 11/8 last Friday. So, I should have mine in the front half of December. I heard estimates at the dealer last Monday (8 days ago) of late January-February for the Cooper S - especially if you wanted the HK speaker package.

Good Luck

Hi, BigMini-- Gross67 is right-- the production date is the day it's actually assembled. ASK-MINI told me, for instance, that my S was in the paint shop (level 152, I think...) on the Tues. before my production date, and that it would actually get all put together on the PD, which was Friday. I called that afternoon, and it had been made that day. So there you have it!

Cheers,

Leslie

Just to add my $.02, my MC had a production date of 09/13, and evidently was built before that date. It was actually loaded on a ship at Southampton, England on 09/13 and arrived in the States on 09/27. Evidently the MINI website timelines are only a SWAG. I had a estimated delivery date of 10/01, and could have picked it up at dealer that day, but business prevented my from getting it until 10/04.

I ordered my MCS on 9-29 and am still looking at an 11-15 'Estimated Production Date'. I was going to call on 11-01 to verify. The wacky thing is that if I would have ordered 1 week earlier, I would have gotten an early October Production.

All production dates are FRIDAYS. So a production date of 10/25 means that your MINI is SUPPOSED to be built and finished sometime during the week ending 10/25. These are estimates and like everything in life, may change or be off by a few days. Most people, however, will have their MINI completed BEFORE Friday since friday is really supposed to be the last day it will be finished.

I've not had the chance to really...appreciate/understand/agonize over.....the whole ..."waiting for my MCS thing"..as I picked mine off the lot......
Some poor soul couldn't finance it...so I was just @ the right place @ the right time.
Truly funny how my MCS was exactly the correct color...had all the options I wanted.......etc...etc..... even though I didn't have it built to order.
Timing is everything...
Peace
Dennis
