Recommendations for replacement top?

Bought an almost new 2012 Highgate S Convertible a few months ago, and almost immediately had the top badly slashed in front of my house. My insurance agent (Farmers) came out and estimated the replacement cost at ~$2700 and gave me a check for $2k after my deductible.

I considered a repair, but the cut is too close to the rear decklid according to a reputable fabric guy. Plus the car is so new, I think it would aggravate me forever to see that cut.

Obviously I could go back to the dealer, but that rarely provides the best combination of price and quality (sometimes neither). Wondering if there are recommendations fr the parts and installation? I am in the SF Bay Area.

Thanks,
Mike

I also live in the Bay Area, and had I saw this, would have recommended Metzler Upholstery. There are right behind SF Honda at Van Ness and Market.

I'm curious what you did for a new top though.

I'm curious as to how your insurance coverage works? You described a situation where funds were provided to you as a result of an estimate and not actual repairs. Typically, when I've made a claim, they also cover repairs which exceed the estimates. Sounds like yours didn't occur that way.

Sounds like how State Farm works. My Sport Trac was in a hail storm a few years ago. State Farm set-up a mobile claims station at the local movie theater and cut checks on the spot. The car that was in front of me, they gave the the owner a check and she gave them the keys. The totaled it on the spot. I ended up pocketing $500.00 after my truck was repaired. Repairs seem to cost less when you go in with money in hand and no insurance company to deal with.
