All Season tires on the JCW exterior package
All Season tires on the JCW exterior package
Hello All,
I ordered my '14 clubman S with JCW Exterior package on 10/5. When I was doing the configuration online it gave me the option for All season tires with the 17" Challenge spoke wheels.
Two days after placing my order, my MA is telling me that it isn't available and when they submitted my order it didn't give them an option to have All Season tires.
I said go ahead since I couldn't really do much since it was a system limitation on their end but I inisisted that I wanted the All Season tires.
I'd like to get the All Season tires since I live in Chicago don't really care about the performance tires.
My MA said tha he'll see if the dealer can switch the tires to All Season once it arrives at the dealership.
If they refuse to do it, any suggestions on what I should do?
Have any of you had this issue when ordering your MINI?
Thanks in advance
Mic

My JCW hardtop goes into production on Nov 11th. I also want all seasons, but was told that is not an option and the JCW's only come with sport/summer tires.
Really sucks cause I will take possession of my car right before Christmas, I live in Vancouver, BC and need all seasons.

According to the configurator you can't get all-season tires with the challenge wheels and JCW exterior package, but you can with the conical wheels and JCW exterior package. Can't imagine why.

just checked the online configurator and it still does give you an option to choose all season tires with JCW ext pkg and challenge spoke wheels. See screen shot below

Do yourself a favor. Take the car with challenge wheels and the summer tires. Buy a set of wheels and SNOW tires, and install them when you get the car. All season tires that MINI uses, suck. They don't do anything well. You really would be amazed at how much better dedicated tires perform. (the exception that I've been reading about is a new Michelin all season tire., but they don't come on any MINI...lol)
You also have to understand that MINI doesn't mount the tires. They order 100's if not 1000's of wheels and tires from suppliers. At the factory they don't have the means to swap tires on a set of rims.

The all season tires that they have may be crappy but it still should perform better in snow over the summer/performance tires.
Additionally, I wouldn't want to spend extra $$$ at the moment to buy additional wheels/tires and that is why I really wanted the all season.
Thank you though, for your suggestion
I know what you're saying.. However, the fact that MINI's online configurator says that all season tires are an option and then to be told by dealer that it's not available is what upsets me.

But...
Shameless plug

We're offering a group buy for wheel/tire sets on our site. The link is for R113 wheels, but we'd extend the same deal to any of the other wheels.
The tire package comes with TPMS / centercaps / mounted and balanced tires. And we can get the wheels at prices below what I can get with my own MINI employee discount.

We'll try to make it the best deal possible for you.
