I've spent number of hours on this forum recently when preparing my daughter's R56s to ship overseas to follow her on her studies. So I installed rear fog lights and toggle only to find out today that my local Sacramento area dealer cannot perform programming because Mini said that this retrofit was not approved for NA minis. WTF? I will call mini in CZ whether they could do it but traditionally euro dealerships are not too keen working on US imports... Does anyone have more info on this and could point me to any location in Cali where they could do this? Need to drop the car at LA port so any location would do. Thanks!

 

go to the 2nd generation modification and look for electrical forum. There should be ncsexpert thread that show you how to program it. You can do it yourself. i did mine. I bought the toggle switch and install it. Next follow instruction on the ncsexpert and enable the fog light...viola!!!

 

Find an independent Mini mechanic.

 

Is this the only modification you are going to have to do to ship a car over there and drive it legally?

I would guess it would be cheaper for her to buy a car there and resell it when she leaves school.

 

Need to get it done States side because if that is the the law in Czech Rep. then the police are very forgiving.
