Anyone know a lap time at VIR's FULL course?
Anyone know a lap time at VIR's FULL course?
I'm heading up to VIR for the Phil Wick's event on the Full course. I've done only the south course and patriot course at full speed. Full course has aways been under a pace lap for charity or parade laps during a race. Has anyone posted a time there on the FULL course so I can get a reference on a time to reach for? I don't know the power/ grip the former ROLEX mini coopers had, but they put their's on pole with a time of 2:10.606 back in 2010. That's a goal, but what would a normal streetable Cooper S do those times in? I've got the JCW suspension with RMW tune running Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
Look for something around a 2:20 if on sticky tires and you know what your doing.
Lap times at VIR and Watkins Glen are similar and I've done a 2:17 at WGI.
Pole time for Continental ST cars at WGI is currently at a 2:08, last year a 2:10

As long as there is good dry weather, I'd hope to hit those numbers, at least be faster than the Fiat Abarths that will show up. Tires will only have say 2000 miles on them and grip great. I found a web site, trackpedia.com that listed a few lap times there ranging from low 1:23 sec with a GSXR 1000, and a 2:22 with an 2005 Viper as well as for Porsche boxster S running 2:24 and 2:17 with RA-1 tires. Time will tell. I'm very comfortable on the south course, will see how the roller coaster gets me running at speed and not a pace car.
Thank you for the insite! Would love to try Watkins Glen some day. Just very far away. Maybe I'll pay a visit during next years Mini Takes the states!

Great time, hit speeds of 126 mph on the back straight, 122 on the front straight, didn't push too much faster because didn't want to over tax by breaks but they worked perfectly as is. Surprisingly I was much faster than the 2 GP2 and the GP1 out there! Unfortunately my girlfriend didn't come with me to time me, but at the same point, there always seemed to be traffic to pass so a clear time would have not been possible. There was another organization up there called Hooked on Driving, very similar to phil wicks academy but they had WAY more money it seemed. Just about all of there cars had 600 hp, from super boosted S2000, to modded ZL-1 camaros, Shelby GT500, and ZR-1 corvettes with a couple of Lotus Exiges as well. All and all, great time , and great new driving academy to look into for more track days.
