The Town of Matthews, NC on the edge of Charlotte is sponsoring a car show on Saturday, June 12th.

If we can register 15 or more MINIs they will judge us in our own class. If we have less than 15 we will be in a class C foreign 1973 to present.

I thought this could be our M2C2 June event for Charlotte. It would be a great opportunity to get together and show off our MINIs and maybe do an early dinner together after the event ends at 4:00pm.

If you are interested in attending please post here so we can hopefully register 15 or more MINIs.

Do we want to meet someplace BEFORE the event, say at 9am? Then we can all drive in together and make a big impression!!
Maybe meet at the Eckerd's parking lot at Hwy 51 and Monroe Road?

Glad you both will be there. I met MINIMISE at the car show last year as the only MINI in the show.

Meeting together at the Eckerd's parking lot on highway 51 sounds like a great idea. I was just wondering about the time. Registration opens at 8:00am. I was planning on being there at 8:00am for a good spot, since there may be over 150 cars.

Since MININMISE was there last year, do you know if the spaces are reserved?

What do you think?

We are not sure. We are planning on Pre-registering, so it may be best to call the Chamber of Commerce to find out for sure. Last year the Mustang Club was all together, so there's a probability that it could happen. They will need to know the number of cars we will have to make sure we have enough space.

Also, ask them if it would be best to cruise in together at 8am with 10-15 cars or at 9am. We should go with their recommendation.

Of course we are flexible, and ready for this fun show!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I don't spend as much time cleaning the MINI as some people or as much as I should. :smile: Unfortunately I found out that my wife has an orientation class that day, so I have the kids solo.

 

I called the Matthews Chamber today. They have asked that we please pre-register, but you my register Saturday morning. When registering please mention M2C2 on the registration form.

They also said they would hold 12 spaces together for us and said it would be better if we showed up at 8:00am. The park has some trees and hopefully we will get some shade. If the park grounds are wet from rain the car show will move to a large Church parking lot.


Should we meet at the Eckerd's parking lot at 7:45am and then drive together to the park?

After talking with Suprcupr and MINIMISE here is the plan.

We will meet at the Eckerd,s on 51 in the parking lot at 8:30am and leave for the car show as a group at 8:45am.

Registration is from 8:00am until 11:00am.

Please remember, we will go eat together after the car show ends at 4:00pm. Please join us even if you are unable to put your MINI in the car show, just stop by.

Sorry you can't make the car show.

I saw Smokey this week at Century and he told me he had helped you with the grill.
He said it turned out nice. Please post a picture.

I have added the aero side skirts, 17in R90s and 50% tint since I saw you at the Dragon. I also did Sirius through the MINI head unit. I was able to get a 04 head unit from another MINI.

Hope we can meet up soon.

Just go back to the 1st post on the thread and click on car show information. That is a link to the registration form. You my register at the show Saturday morning. All of the MINIs will park together. Please join us at 8:30am at the Eckerd's on 51 and we will drive in together. The car show will be in the park on Trade St in Historic Downtown Matthews.

Between a new house, two dogs, visiting parents and bar exam studying, I am going to do my damndest to get there on Sat.

A few questions:

1) As a new resident of Charlotte, I'm not sure where that Eckerd's is. I know Hwy 51 as I live in Ballantyne. Can you give specific directions?

2) If I park in the show area, do you know if I can leave early? Due to life constraints, I may not be able to make it much past noon.

3) Will anyone be bringing any detailing stuff? Haven't had a chance to buy that stuff yet.
