Anyone in the area with short shifter installation experience?

I'm one of those dangerous types. Just enough skill and knowledge to be dangerous, but I think what makes me really dangerous is that I think I can do more than I really can.

I worked on my 04 MCS a bit this weekend to try to get my short shifter installed, only to find out that I have the wrong part. Seems my 04 (build 10/03) has the 03 design. Helix is replacing the part for me.

I managed to get to the actual shifter under the car, but had no luck getting the linkage apart. Was hoping there was someone in the area that had more skill than I, and wouldn't mind helping out.

Live in Salisbury, but willing to drive.

Thanks!

I'd be happy to help, it's a really easy install, the only hard part is getting the heat shield back in place. I have all the tools needed to do the install at my house or I can meet you and do it your place. Saturday afternoon or Sunday is the best time for me. BTW, I'm in Mooresville, so it's not that far of a drive.

I ended up at my wife's boss' brother's shop when I tried my install. Went to use his shop and floor jack, and ended up using his pit.

I did not remove the heat shield completely, just slid it back far enough towards the rear end till I could get to the shifter housing. Did this cause I couldn't break loose one of the bolts on the exhaust.

Thank you for the offer. I'll almost assuredly take you up on your offer, soon as Helix sends the replacement part.

Thanks! I know I have enough skill for it, but getting that dang joint apart baffled me.
