Convoy from Denver to the Dragon in 2014
2014 Minis on the Dragon will be my first. 318 twisties in 11miles
It would be double the fun if we could have a convoy from Denver to Tennessee. Anybody?

A possible route: 12 hour motor into St. Louis on Monday, and just for fun a shorter 6 hour day to Nashville/Knoxville, some sight seeing?(and rest before all those twisties!) Leaving 2 hours into Fontana Village Wednesday morning??? I would certainly hope we could pick up other motorers along the way!
There really isn't much to see going out that way, unless you go out intentionally looking for it.
Ive gone from Denver to Nashville in 16-18 hours before, but I normally just drive straight through, only stopping for food or gas. In the MINI there where only 2 fuel stops I had to make... One on the west side of Salina Kansas, and the next was stretched out to St Louis. If needed I stop in Mt Vernon Illinois for a good rest period though (a couple hours).
There are quite a few things to do in the Nashville area, and at night things really get jumping.
All that being said, I am planning on taking the Jeep down there this year (during the dragon). Its been a few years since I have been down to see some old friends, from my active duty army days. Dont know when you are leaving, but I might see you on the road.

Do you get the MOTD newsletter or subscribe to the MOTD FB page, lots of good information coming out.
This still is interesting, guess a few folks need to step up and say, yes plan it.

This. I'd really dig going to it, but no way can I actaully commit right now. But if we had a nice caravan, and I could take a few days off work around that time...
Only 155 days left! Searching for accommodations
As I am on a waiting list for Fontana Village Resort for accommodations, I'm looking at homes for rent in the Robbinsville, NC area which seems the most convenient to all the fun. Can anybody tell me if this the closest I can get to Fontana Village? There are so many vacation homes!!!!!!:
Indy on the way to MOTD...
The BIG Indy 500 race is mid May. What I was thinking was just for us to run around the track a couple of times! I don't have anything guaranteed at the moment but I have a call being returned soon. I will get back on this as soon as I get an answer! Keep fingers crossed!!!
Is this late May? Is there a web site to check in. I might love to join in from Lincoln on the way if possible. I'd love to drive the Dragon! My son tells me so much about it.
What do i do now except tune up and wash the '05 Kite Blue S?

Itinerary pending from Denver as to my trying to get a window of time on Tuesday April 29 to drive a lap or two around the track. Still working on it...... keep fingers crossed but for now, we plan to head out for the Dragon early Monday April 28...
Okay, unfortunately there is a Road Course Racing inaugural event kicking off at the Indy Motor Speedway 2nd week of May which will not allow for us to access to the track.... Bummer!!! Back to dreaming of twisties in the spring...
Convoy Route from Denver to The Dragon in 2014.......
Here is the itinerary for proposed Denver convoy to MOTD 2014. We hope for A LOT of MINI'S to accompany us. (I intend on dropping a line to other clubs in our motoring path to maximize the convoy potential
) This is going to be so much fun!!!! Need I remind...318 twisties in 11 miles? It would be DUMB not to go
Depart Denver early on Monday April 28 bound for St. Louis (approx. 12 hours). Tuesday early, head towards Fontana Village stopping approximately 2 1/2 hours outside of Fontana for some rest and a fun evening in..... Nashville anyone???(We have friends there we will spend the night with in Crossville, TN.) And Nashville has great night life I hear! Then Wednesday morning, motor on in to Fontana Village to register... starts at 2 p.m. (or you can skip Nashville altogether for Fontana Village arriving a day early!) More to come.

Looks like I will be trailing by a day...(cant take more than 5 days off of work)
There is lots to do in Nashville, especially for the younger crowd at night. All you need to do is park and walk up and down 2nd Ave, and Broadway. (Streets are normally closed for pedestrian use on weekend nights, but you should be able to drive on the week days)
There is (don't know anymore, haven't been back there since '09) a parking garage on 4th ave and Church street, the attendant leaves at 8:00 PM and the gate left open for FREE parking. If it is still there, and the same way of operation it saves you like $15 for the night you are in town.
During the day Nashville sleeps, not much to see or do, unless you really know where to look.
