Denver Performance Exhaust - HELP!!
Denver Performance Exhaust - HELP!!
Greetings all, Jacob here, not quite dead yet. I know it's been a terribly long time since I've posted here, but life is a funny thing and my time is not what it once was. Miss the fun and the friends, but right now what I need is help.
I have in fact blown out (rusted through?) a section of my exhaust header and Schomp has been kind enough to offer me the factory fix at deler prices. For the cost, I have decided to instead install a performance header.
I've got my sights set on a nice number by MINI Madness, but in the case of all exhausts in this category they have no catalytic converters ( as required by Colorado emissions testing). Madness offered to sell me one they recommend, but it needs to be welded in. Schomp cannot help me with this.
I need to know who I can go to to have this work accomplished. Someone that can be trusted and isn't going to take every cent of my money. I am in the Lakewood area, but the car is currently south in Littleton. I have not yet purchased the parts, because I don't want to get stuck with something I can't use.
In short... HELP please. I know our community knows a lot of good people, and I need something here. If there are better suggestions, and I am doing it wrong, I'm all ears as well.
Thank a million,
Jacob

They usually do full exhausts and custom roll cages, but perhaps you can give Hanksville Hot Rods a call. I'm on the road and don't have their number handy. Their in the south end either Littleton or Highlands Ranch
You could try Ernie over at PEAK, he works on MINIs, does performance upgrades, might offer advice.
Lots of folks are running cat-less, not sure that is good here in CO. Could you run a cat inline as your cat and resonator?
Also, Ferney's Auto and Lube, Ferney is a MINI tech. running his own shop on South Santa Fe. You might try him for advice, options.
Hit MINI MANIA for what they have online. Don Racine - Owner.

I would suggest finding a different header.
If you are not trying to push the performance of your car past 250 HP the stock header is fine. Most of the headers on the market will trigger a lean condition CEL even with the cat. My RMW shorty did, and it's the best header out there that comes with a cat.
You can find used OEM headers in good condition, you have to look but you can...
Keep in mind it is illegal for a scrap yard to sell a cat in CO, so searching there will do you no good.

I can vouch for the quality that Hanksville provides.
