Unichip Yay or Nay

I found a local tuner that support mcs tuning but only with UniChip. I saw some posts that some do not recommend UniChip and also that some of the early tuning that were tuned using Unichip. So What the down fall of using UniChip vs other tuning options?

I didn't make myself clear on my last post. I'm located in Thailand. So I can't just drive to NM or Alta or any of the other tuner you guys are talking about. My option would only be that they would support my mods and could flash via OBD II only.

So far all I did was just regular tune up to her and Alta Air Filter. Like my other post I'm looking to upgrade the turbo, add larger intercooler and full turbo back exhaust.

UniChip has supposedly redesigned their tuning set-up to use a piggyback off the sensors themselves instead of going off the ECU, which is where the issues with the wiring developed that you read about. I'd say it's a plausible solution for tuning if you have someone that knows the platform and the set-up.

Put your car's info in your signature so we know more about your car. Year motor, model, etc? European cars or cars of certain markets cannot be tuned or haven't been tuned by US tuners.

I remember the tuner mentioning that its a plug and play then tune solution now. He said it better than hacking apart the ecu and install a chip like the unichip from before.

No big mods so far. Since sending the turbo back and forth oversea wouldn't the best solution. I would not make any changes to her yet until I could find a tuning solution that fit what I'm looking for.
