Flywheel Resurfacing Specs / Dimensions Needed
Flywheel Resurfacing Specs / Dimensions Needed
Hello,
I've just finished removing the clutch and flywheel from my wife's car and would like to get the flywheel resurfaced as it has some heat marks, however I cannot find any thickness specs in my Bentley manual, nor searching in here.
Also there is a rebated (from the friction area) section of ~0.012" around the edge where the pressure plate mounts, but I've not found a measurement for that either.
I'd love to have some info to bring to the machine shop if anyone can assist.
Edited to add: This is an R50 2003.
In a related note, the failure mode was kind of interesting in that the spring for the pressure plate split suddenly from presumably some kind of small defect. There's probably ~35kmi on this clutch since it was done by a local shop.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The clutch failed suddenly. One shift it worked, next it couldn't be shifted into gear while running. Very luckily this happened while coming to a stop in a ~20MPH zone with it in neutral so there wasn't a lot of personal danger.
There was still some clutch release function left in that you could put it into gear while the car was off, hold the clutch in, start the car without it leaping forward, and let the clutch out to move the car. This is how I got it to where I'm working on it. However it was engaged enough to not be able to shift while the car was running.
I've gotten the flywheel resurfaced since there seems to be no spec to be had based on the lack of responses. I'll see how it goes. It's the first resurfacing and it didn't require much removal so hopefully it will be fine.
