warped head, new head gasket

I got my 08 type S almost a year ago, and I've had a problem with the coolant system nearly from day one, and could never figure out the problem. Untill recently, that is, when the head gasket finally gave out. Exhaust was making its way into the coolant system, which was causing all my issues. I took it to a shop and they said the head was warped, towards the center/middle of the head, and not too badly, but machining it wouldve only done so much.

I planned on getting rid of the car, so i told them to just put on a new head gasket and put it back together. Its driving like new now, but due to a long story, I'll probably have to keep it. So how long could this thing hold out for? I'm up in Minnesota right now, but have to go back to Texas, will it make it the 1000 miles at least? The shop estimated it could last a year, but I'd like to hear some other thoughts.

Thanks,
Nick

How many miles on the car? Any idea what caused the warped head?

Car has just under 96000 miles. Head got warped cause it over heated a couple times due to the slowly failing head gasket. I was afraid of valve damage, but if there is any, its not showing - the car runs perfect.

How long it'll last is anybody's guess

The feeling of knowing you have another head gasket repair coming sooner rather than later must be pretty crappy

They said it wasn't badly warped, I would have gotten it machined while they had it off the block. Get it as straight as possible. With just a new head gasket, it's a crap shoot how long it'll last.

The shop said that because of where/how it was warped, machining it wouldve only done so much, and that a new head is what was really needed. At the time I was already looking to trade it in, so I didnt figure it was worth the extra money to have it machined. But of course, now I'm stuck with it.

If you had the head off and didn't machine it.... It wont last long...lol.. You should of had it machined.... If the head was warped in the middle, which most are, it could have been easily machined.. But are you saying you didn't have it machined at all?
