Mini R52 Doors Unlock While Driving
Mini R52 Doors Unlock While Driving
Anyone experienced unlocking of doors while driving? Mine usually does it on my commute as I exit the freeway and climb up the offramp with the clutch in. I'm wondering if it's related to idle speed and vehicle inclination?
It could be an alternator issue, loading the engine. I say this because I don't *think* stalling the car unlocks the doors, it may be a low voltage transient that triggers part of the crash safety system to pop the locks and turn on the interior lights.
Yea, I would look at those. Do you have the locks coded for auto lock after you go down the road, are they working? I know you have pulled the door apart before and the wires going into the harness. Did it do this before the big retrofit process?
Thanks
Thanks

Yes the doors lock automatically and unlock when the ignition comes off. It's not a loose connector or damaged, i go over enough jiggles on my way to work to be sure of that, and there are no other malfunctions.
I'm sure it's engine revs and possibly incline related.
It only ever happens outside the Chillis on my way home, uphill, clutch in, Neutral, coasting from 70MPH down to 5MPH up the freeway exit ramp.
Possibly related stalling here on an uphill.

My newly aquired R53 does something similar. I have had the car for a week now and today I used my non-remote key to start and drive with. (I am sending the key with buttons in to get a new battery.) As I hit 12mph the doors lock as usual but then at 20mph they unlock. And it keeps doing it as I start and stop with traffic. But it's only with this non-button key in the ignition! The doors don't unlock at 20 with the remote key.
