MINI offers $1,000 USAA discount on '13/'14 models

While surveying the MINI website, I came across MINI's offer of a $1,000 discount on the purchase of '13 and '14 models. This may be in addition to other promotional offers. No one mentioned this when I ordered my '14 Roadster S. My car arrives from England in a matter of weeks, so I fully intend to address the discount with my Sales Manager and the Finance Office.

Has anyone received the $1,000 discount for USAA members? If so, did you combine it with any other offers?

Dave

Was that a $500 USAA discount, or an unspecified discount?

MINI of Sterling already gave me a $500 discount on my '14 Roadster S order, but I intend to pursue the USAA discount as well. MINI's clear intention is to award past and present members of the US Armed Forces a discount. If they hesitate, I will pursue the matter further.

Actually now that I look at my paperwork I don't see it itemized but I do remember discussing it. Hmm...

You can do better than that on your own. Now if you can add that discount to the price you agree on with your dealer then that's a great deal.

When was it posted......link would be nice too!
Is there a time frame it has to be ordered and or purchased from dealer inventory?
I like many others would like to think we are getting the best deal ever.
I ordered my '14 fJCW clubman and got 1500.00 right off the top.
So I'm kinda happy anyway!

But like all humans, I'd like to read about this possible better deal.

In order to take advantage of the USAA discount you have either have or be eligible for USAA Auto Insurance. You are also forbidden to use MINI FS as a finance/lease source. $1000 is strong, usually they do $500 which doesn't quite pay out considering MINI FS has phenominal rates usually. $1000 makes a lot of sense. And negotiating down to and past $1000 will depend on the model. Alot them don't have the mark up in them. USAA's $1000 plus $500-750 Dealer discount on ANY model is a phenominal deal.

PS... I work for MINI and I'm apparently fond of the word "phenominal" considering I used it twice in the above post lol... it's been a long day. Any dealership type questions feel free to pm me... I'm happy to help

MINI doesn't seem to offer much on '14 models on order.

If 1.9% applies to '14 model orders, that is a good deal. As I recall, USAA offers 2.75% with another .25% off for automatic withdrawal. It comes down to dollars and cents, I guess. Plus, I don't know if they will give me the original $500 off and the $1,000 USAA discount together.

The 1.9% DOES apply to the 2014's, the rate on 2013 's is .9% out to 72 months which is AWESOME! except the hardtop which gets .9% to 48 months and 1.9% to 72 months... still not bad.

figures they lower to 0.9 from 1.9 when I just got mine...same thing happened on the last one. It was 2.9 then went to 1.9.

If you are a USAA member, then you should check the USAA car price when using their car buying service. The USAA discount will include the rebate, plus additional $$$$ off depending on the year/model and month you're buying. Bump the discount 10-20%, and use that as starting point in your negotiation. I ordered my 2012 CMS in Aug 2012, I negotiated $1250 off. I took delivery late Oct and had attended a MINI Not So Normal event at another dealership and received a $750 off voucher ($2000 off, 6.9% total savings) and MINI financing had dropped to .9%. My MA said I couldn't combine offers with the .9%, but I had a Plan-B, so I was going to walk. He ended up giving me the deal.

You can get 1.9% from your credit union. Don't let the dealers fool you guys. They make money and have plenty of mark up, and you can do better than $1,000 off ANY model of Mini.

OK.... here we go...I work for MINI and KNOW there's not a lot of mark up. What benefit would it be for me to make that up? I'm not self promoting or trying to get extra car deals. I'm an enthusiast like everyone else here. I have owned 2 R53's since 2007 and have been in the car business for 15 years (MINI for 2 yrs). I KNOW the deal. Yes, ofcourse you can get 1.9% from a credit union. This depends on your credit and credit union. You may be able to get 1.9%, or even 0%, maybe 8% it doesn't matter. All of that depends on other factors. Back to discount... There is occasionally "youification" from MINI (on certain models) that provides an extra discount. All of that info is available right on MINIUSA. There ARE times when a dealership loses money to steal business from a competing dealer. But why should a dealer lose money to sell a car. I understand as a consumer we want the best deal, but my time is just as important as anyone elses. If I spend 3 months with a customer trying to close a deal, I may only see $150 for my time. We don't ALWAYS make money and the money to be made is extremely limited with a brand like MINI. They have minimal mark up and hold their value as pre-owned vehicles. If there was "plenty" of markup in these cars, they wouldn't hold their value as well as they do. There are like 120 MINI dealers in the country... These cars are limited production in scale to almost everything else out there. There is a total markup on SOME models that a $1000 discount makes sense, but not all of them. And even at that, the dealer isn't making tons of money. I've been in almost every angle of this business, everyone is quick to say "you paid too much" or "I got it for less" just say congrats to the person who is finally driving the car they've been working hard for and be happy for them. The mark up is what it is. You get value for your money... and an AWESOME car!

That is awesome. I'll check with USAA.

I totally get your point. I understood the $500 discount given with my '14 model order. I stumbled across the USAA deal by accident. If I can get $1,500 off my '14 Roadster, I will be happy. I checked Truecar.com for market pricing and it bears out what you say. MINI strikes me as a straight up organization.

If you're unsure, check the USAA website for confirmation of any discounts offered

I ordered an MCC last week, got the $500 USAA discount plus another $1300 from the dealer. Just have to show them a USAA insurance card, but at first they were confused and said I had to finance though them at the not so good rates. After walking out without a deal, she called back to say she was mistaken

Yes. If you have great credit and the stones to walk out, you can get a great deal. Always have a plan-B.
The timing of your order might even get better. Next month they usually have their NotNormal event. Last year they gave out $750 vouchers for people who signed up and attended. I attended the event while my car was sailing across the Atlantic and was able to stack it on my original offer (with a little encouragement).

I received a $500 discount on the order date. USAA sent me a certification letter so I can receive the USAA-funded rebate at closing. USAA also offered me 1.75% financing. My '14 Roadster still sits on the Southampton docks, so I'll look for a MINI Not Normal event for the $750 voucher, if available.

So will the Mini Rally Motor-tober event deal of $1000 off stack with the USAA $1000 off for $2k off? Disclaimer doesn't say not valid with other offers. Actually says above and beyond this month's special offers.

https://secure.miniusa.com/event/rsv...MINIUSA_HomePg
get up to $1,000 off a new MINI* (above and beyond this month’s special offers),

*Restrictions apply. Customer must purchase, finance or lease a new 2013 or 2014 MINI model and must take vehicle delivery between the date of the MINI RALLY MOTOR-TOBER SALES EVENT attended and December 2, 2013. Pre-owned and MINI NEXT vehicles, and vehicles ordered prior to 10/12/13 do not qualify. Visit MINIUSA.COM/RallyOffer for full details.
