I use an Alto/WAP 10 gallon shop vac in my garage. Great machine, small enough to easily fit under a bench when not in use, and well worth the cost which is not insignificant. One issue is that finding bags and filters is not easy. And they are expensive when you do find them.

So, I lent it to my neighbor (never a wise move) and he clearly was using it to mop up some water and it completely destroyed the filter. He did take out the bag but the filter is shot and full of mildew. So I searched the net and came up with a replacement filter, K&N this time so I can at least wash it next time, from Ultimate Garage in Emerson, NJ. Great price and the filter arrived in two days. Unfortunately it was an inch too tall.

I sent an email to Steve D'Gerolamo, he is Ultimate Garage, and within an hour was told that the part has changed, I needed a new hold down and he would cover the shipping cost. Or if I wanted he could exchange the filter but noted that the shorter ones would increasingly be harder to get and more expensive. I received the cover in 24 hours.
