R60 My NEW Countryman JCW not on good behavior
Well, as you know, I took delivery of my Crystal Silver JCW on Wednesday the 14th. It has approximately 390 miles on it. That Saturday my passenger side rear window malfunctioned. It went down slowly. Upon raising it, it crawled up about a quarter of the way then went back down. Kept reversing itself and going back down as if the safety pinch control kicked on. Seemed as if the window did not have enough power to raise itself. Got home and in the garage it took me about 20 minutes to get the window fully closed. I had to hold the switch and pull up on window itself.
Then on Sunday while driving it threw a check engine light. Called dealership Monday morn for two issues. I took it in and they gave me a loaner, a Paceman S model. They told me they would not be able to get to it until Thursday as they were booked out. Wednesday they called with diagnosis of both ailments. Rear passenger window issue: needs new motor. Check engine light: code came up for charcoal canister related to emissions. Replacing Charcoal canister.
It is drivable but I chose to leave it at dealership, especially with the emissions controls. I don't want to possibly multiply probs by one issue causing another. So, I had my Countryman JCW in my possession for 5 days. The fixes should happen this week. Awaiting parts. Do you think it's mad at me because I have not named it yet?
In another thread there was some discussion on brakes. I noticed differences in the Paceman S and my JCW Countryman. Though the brakes on a JCW and S models look the same (save the red painted calipers on JCW models), the braking force on the JCW model is definitely no-doubt stronger than on the S model Paceman. I think this observation would also apply to the Countryman S model also. The JCW Countryman /Paceman, in my opinion should have the visually more appealing JCW calipers that are on all other JCW's.
I also noticed that the suspension on the Paceman S is softer than my JCW (guess it's that JCW suspension tune). The JCW suspension is in no way harsh, even with the runflats. I will ditch the runflats at the appropriate time. Ride quality will elevate. These are my observations.
My black-line headlight and tail light trim arrived yesterday! Opened the box and the passenger side headlight piece was broken. Okay, it happen in threes (check engine light, rear passenger window, broken headlight trim!). The bad run is over. Lol
Sorry about about the long post. I just needed to talk to somebody. Good therapy! Lol

Yes. Nothing more than "growing pains". Things happen. MINI's pound for pound are the most fun vehicles I have driven thus far. Will be back to having fun with my Countryman shortly. I'm currently breaking in the Paceman S they gave me as a loaner. It was brand new, only 5 miles on it. Putting check motif on my '05 Cooper S hatch. I already miss my Countryman. It will be named before I pick it up!
Though this is Countryman thread, thought I would share pic of the '05 being "checkered-up". Checks on sunroof portion of hardtop is next.

My CMS threw a CEL at less miles than that. Took it in for service after reseating the fuel cap did nothing. Three days later had her back. Was bothered by it (never had a brand new car have issues before) but in restrospect it wasn't that big of a deal and the dealer fixed me up.
