Radio Down Tubes same in what years.

Can anyone confirm for me that the vertical tubes on each side of the radio are the same from 2002 thru 2006 Mini Coopers?

Are the tubes also used in other models?

Thanks!!!

I can't tell you which years were different, but they're not all the same.

The disassembly instructions I found indicated that you could pull the tube up and out after unscrewing it at the sides near the Head Unit. However, in my '06, the bottom of the tube is larger than the top, so you have to remove the center console and pull it out and down through the bottom, which is more of a hassle.

It WAS that way in my 06 too, but I removed the large area at the end with a hack saw. Now I can get them in and out without having to remove the console.

I wonder if the other style tubes are the same except for the end?

I am working on something that slips up inside the tube and really need to know the difference.

You could try browsing the catalog for various years at http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

I believe the other tubes have a foam piece at the bottom that slips off, rather than a bulbous plastic end. They look identical (in photos.) otherwise. I should get the hacksaw out, that's a good idea.

It look like current part numbers all the down tubes only are the same.

#7 in the diagram. There is silver, anthracite , and gun metal ( from the MINI sidewalk ). The surrounding parts might have changed over the years.
