Souvenir from my Atlanta roadtrip

While driving to Atlanta from Orlando over the 4th of July weekend I hit some debris. The car in front of me ran over something, I think a tire fragment, and I was unable to dodge due to traffic. Ripped the little hanging plastic on the drivers side in the front. I bought that part for $25 and put it on in 5 minutes. I thought that was it, but on the way back from my ME trip I started hearing a rattling which I thought was from the rear quarter panel area. Been getting a little louder and today I finally saw where it was coming from. The attached pics show the plastic guard underneath the drivers side, have no idea how I did not spot this. It apparently got banged up pretty good, it was quite a double thunk, front then back. Going to find out what it cost to replace that part when I take my car in for oil service on Friday. Part looks flimsy as hell, I'm sure it is expensive.

Well it could of been worse, but it still sucks.

True, looks like some fragile hoses up underneath there. I'm sure it could have been all kinds of fun if any of those had been hit.

Just glad to find the rattle. Nothing drives me crazy like a good rattle, and this one shows up at about 40 and is loud enough to notice. I suspect it just keeps beating on the underneath where the rear of it broke around the bolt.

Not sure by your picture- but I had some recent damage like you had. I killed the front grille and intercooler. I was concerned about any damage underneath and the Mini mechanic told me that there was a large plastic cover to protect your belts and hoses from this type road damage.
Again not sure if that's what I am looking at from your picture. The plastic covering on my car sustained no damage.

In my case I think it is the plastic covering he was talking about. Through the big broken part I can see some hoses that look pretty fragile.
