Small disappointment . . .

I never got a chance to share my small disappointment on our recent roadster purchase.
I don't know why I didn't notice it right away but as soon as we got home with our purchased MINI I realized it does not have the paddle "shifter" I was so exited to get...

I went back to the online "configurator" and I missed the small print with the interior package we got which states that the paddle "shifter" are not including on automatic (I'm guessing with that particular steering wheel).

That's a bummer... Is it something that can be retrofitted or is it too much a pita...

In the end it will be alright especially since my wife would not use it anyway. but that was a bit of a let down

That's weird. I had a brand new 2013 MCS Bayswater automatic (as a loaner) and it had the paddle shifters....

There seems to be a lot of people that didn't get them even when it said they were suppose too.... But with that said I do know people have had them added.. But im not sure what the cost is.. The ones that have had them installed I think were suppose to get them but when they took delivery they were not on the car..lol

I cannot say they lied to us . . . it's well stated online. I just missed it when we ordered it... I didn't see it as an option either. Maybe it's a 2014 configuration limitation.
Man I really which we had a more experienced person when we ordered the car...

TG... I don't think anyone lied to you..this seems to be a very confusing thing that some MAs don't even know...my guess is if you ordered a 2013 model year then you should have them.. The configurator online has been updated.. If you would have looked at the old configurator im betting it would have said with paddle shifters.... It wouldn't hurt to talk to your MA about it...cheers!!

I'm not implying they lied. We just got this young and new employee and it was very difficult to get the proper information.
The day we ordered was messy because of that 2013 configuration vs. 2014 build. We missed on a few things.

Yes I'm going to talk to someone and see if it's at all possible and what it would cost. If it's not, we'll live without it. It's just a darn shame. I was so excited about that small detail. I can still shift "manually" just by using the stick...

let's assume I could find a steering wheel online with the paddles shifters, would it be easily wired?

My car doesn't have the paddle shifters either.

Because it's a manual. :D

It makes one wonder why they state: no paddle shifter with automatic"

At its greatest they should come up with the pro gear box on manuals. Auto shifting + paddle shifter with manual clutch

Your Roadster should come equipped with Paddle Shifters if u got automatic transmission in the S model. Your Roadster is a 14?

Yes it's a 2014 S

Unfortunately, I don't think it's the case for the 2014 models any longer...
Obviously it's confusing because what maybe a selection in the online "configurator" crosses multiple models, while a specific model or option might override some of that...
How, or where, do I get a definite yes or no on what a 2014 S with my interior scheme should get? If I should have it than I can push hard to get it, but if it is the way MINI has it for 2014 I don't think I'll have a lot of ground to make it happen.

Do you have the Mini Yours Leather Steering Wheel? Or the regular leather sport steering wheel?

Yes we have the mini yours which is what I suspect may have killed the paddles "shifters" . . . MINI not wanting to make a separate sku for that custom steering wheel. Still a shame

FWIW, had the paddle shifters on our last 2009 MCS, and only used them a few times during the first few months and then never again. Now have the roadster S with the yours wheel. This steering wheel is much more comfortable than the previous and we don't miss the paddles at all. Just one persons opinion.

Is the Yours wheel thicker/more padded than the regular, like the JCW?

I cannot really comment about other MINI steering wheel but the "Yours" is extremely comfortable. It's made of fine Italian like leather quality, very smooth and well padded but not overly either. I've never seen another steering wheel like it (considering my limited exposure to other car

Btw, thx mdm. That's actually comforting.

I don't have a problem with the standard wheel, but if the Yours is anything like the JCW, it's definitely nicer.

I don't have problem with the standard either, for all I know they all feel the same
I really like ours. It's hard to put into word what it is... it feels very nice to the touch, a very natural contact (the total opposite to plastic and vinyl feel)

LOL, I think this conversation is making me forget the paddle shifter

Do you have the shift on the automatic's gear changer. You do have a sequential shifter down on the floor - it's pretty nice actually. I use it much more than the paddles.
