Installing my ATI Harmonic Balancer Q?

Ok So I have everything off. Being there is no key notched in the crank, do I just put the new ATI HB on and then bolt her up? No need to TDC the engine or anything? Just bolt her up where she is?

MINI COOPER DAMPER
For 2001 - 2006 Base and S Models
Part
# 917992
INST. #917992i 6/2011
6747 Whitestone Road • Baltimore, MD 21207 • (410) 298-4343 • FAX: (410) 298-3579

Installation Instructions
ATI’s Super Damper is a “press fi t” damper and will be tight to install.
1. Remove the right front wheel
2. Remove the right front inner fender, eight (8) plastic snaps and three (3) metal screws.
3. Turn the wheels all the way to right to give you more room to work.
4. You now have access to the OEM damper.
5. Use the 15mm Socket to remove the front damper bolt. Clean and save for re-use.
6. Use the Belt Tensioner Tool to remove the belt. (This tool has a long handle with 2 pins.)
NOTE!
This is a two person job. The belt routing can easily get confused. We suggest a
small diagram be drawn for reference.
7. Remove the OEM damper with a damper puller/installer. The OEM damper has a 2.150 bolt
circle and requires an OEM puller or one that will accept that bolt pattern and has a shaft to
fit through a 1/2” front hole to back off nose of crank.
8.Inspect the crank for any burrs or nicks. Blow out the threaded hole so that it’
s free of debris.
9. Start damper by hand (Heat the back side of the damper with a cof
fee warmer or hotplate.)
10 The ATI Super Damper has a small counterbore area to allow the damper to start on straight
before press fit. This will allow you to begin installation a small amount by hand.
12.Use the supplied long bolt and washer to grab enough threads to pull your damper on most of
the way. Taking care not to use too much force, continue until this bolt bottoms out.
Remove
the bolt.
13. Use the OEM bolt to fi nish installing the damper. Apply Blue Loctite and torque to 85 ft/lbs.
14. Reinstall the belt, making sure you have proper routing (refer to your diagram). Start the
engine and let it idle before reinstalling the tire and fender to make sure the belt alignment is
straight.
15. Put the inner fender back on and install the tire and torque.
Happy Motoring with your new ATI Super Damper!
