been looking around, and cant find anything...

I dont really mind the speedo, but would rather prefer a chrono pack. In place of the speedo, would custom fit a 7" touch screen radio. and a small compartment where the radio is.

is this an easy thing to do? (replacing speedo for chromo)
have experience with removing and replacing components, have always done customizations to my cars.

Not easy to do. The speedo (and chrono) are not just dial indicators. The back side of their circuit board has the electronic modules to control the instruments and warning lights

 

Also the chro pack was only an option on the "refresh" cars...so 2005+...
Coding/programming is needed.....to make it work.
My suggestion...fabricate something up with analog guages....craven makes some nice holders for aftermarket ones that mount by the speedo....
A thread comes up...monthly or so....about this...hate to say it...when done....has usually resulted in lites lit...warning or otherwise, and other issues, even with programing.
If you spend $$ and find the right new part, and program a 2005+, you have a chance....but no guarantee.

 

my mini is an 06. was hoping you can just rederect the wire harness (or buy a new one) and connect to a OEM chrono from a "dead" mini on a junk yard. would take off speedo and rev reader to place chrono.

I know that millage on old chrono might be a problem. since it stays with the gauges (would get one with close millage), was hoping it was a simple swap.

but i guess its more challenging than that, so it seems
