Carbotech Bobcat 1521 compare with EBC Red Stuff.

These OEM pads are driving me crazy with the amount of brake dust after short 50 miles trips! I do love the way how the OEM brakes have this low speed initial bite. How does the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 compare with EBC Red Stuff?

1. Will be using Sport Drilled & Slotted dealer brand rotors.
2. Looking for low dust pads.
3. Strong initial bite at any speed.

Opinions welcome!

Thank you.

If you like initial grabbiness....stay away from the bobcats...
From most of the posts I remember, they have better modulation then OEM....that means that you can use them lighter...and no grabbiness....a very different feel than OEM.

I have the Reds, in my opinion they dont have a lot of bite when cold, different story when warm/hot.

Does this mean that I have to push the brake pedal harder to stop?

How is the difference in the amount of brake dust compared to the OEMs? Also what rotors are you using? Are they quiet when braking?

Thanks!

Definitely less dust than stock, but it's still there. They're ceramic based, so better than OEM, but since they are performance based, dust is the first sacrifice made.

I am using OE replacements from Rock Auto, nothing special. They have been perfectly quiet for me.

I installed CT Bobcats 1521s at 2500 miles. At 31000, I have been very pleased with their performance as well as the reduced brake dust. I have had no issues with their stopping power.

I can't compare w. EBC, but I've had my Bobcats on for just over a year (~6k miles) and can attest to the greatly reduced brake dust. Stopping performance seems, at worst, comparable to stock -- bearing in mind that my car is strictly a street machine and doesn't see track or auto-x duty.

When I had Bobcats on my 2003 it initially felt like the performance of the braking system was less. That is because it requires more force to start the braking. However they stopped every time and very well. I won't use them again though because I did not like that feeling. Its just a matter of getting used to it but I guess I like the initial bite pads better? I think after my 3/36000 I will try some Hawk pads, or possibly the Carbotech AX6 pads.

I have the Reds with NM slotted/drilled rotors.

Great combo for me, 90% less dust and stops on a nickel. I have about 6k miles on them and they only measure 1.5mm less than new.

I have the Bobcats on all 4 wheels. Way less dust and much better modulation e.g. significantly less initial bite
