R50/53 Exhaust wrap advice
Exhaust wrap advice
Hey guys. Hoping to get some insight. Bought some 4-2-1 headers from a fellow NAM member, and before installing, I plan to use some exhaust wrap on them.
What I'd like to know, is a 50 ft roll enough? Seems like it should be.
Next, would the 1" wide be easier / better than 2" wide wrap? Price difference is only $10, so it seems like I'm getting 2x as much going with the 2" stuff.
Yes, I know wrapping headers is supposed to degrade them, but I plan on pre painting them with dei high temp paint. Also, my entire undercarriage is covered with custom paneling, so water splash up should be at a minimum.
Also wondering if I should bother buying a high flow cat, or going cat-less with a spark plug defouler to avoid engine lights. I'm in FL, so no smog checks required. No, I dnt want to cut up my OEM exhaust in case I need to put it back on. I've read the R53s melt those aftermarket cats, so has anyone had any luck with any so far?
Lastly, anyone know if a JCW has a diff part number for the exhaust manifold gasket over a regular MCS, since it has a ported head?

On the JCW Tunning kit the exhaust gasket is the same part number as the MCS.

And.
We carry the DEi Exhaust wrap. 2" and 50 ft should work fine. Some guys prefer the wider stuff to cover more length wise per wrap. The Tan or black should work good , just depends on the color. The titanium is just for a little higher heat.
