My fuel cap was always difficult to get off. Then the car sat for 2 years and I had a hell of a time wrenching it off today. I thought I broke it, managed to get it off in what I assumed would be the worst way - Robo-Grips on the key, but it worked and didn't break the key. The cap seems fine.

However, I know it needs to be replaced and for a number of reasons I really don't want to replace it with the same cap. This one:

Does anyone know of a cap here that fits? Tomorrow I'm going to go to Autozone and try to match something up, but thought it best to ask first.

Why not just get a factory gas cap?

 

The only ones I've found so far are locking (which I feel I don't really need) and $37 or more, plus shipping. That's a lot for a fuel cap. That's a lot for someone who is unemployed. Tried looking up ones for MGs and Triumphs today; couldn't find anything that fit.

 

You can get a factory fuel cap from rockauto for 22.79

 

Maybe I am just sleepy, but I can't find anything. Mine is a '79 and the closest Mini listed is a '69 and I'm not seeing any fuel caps.
