Hi guys,

Recently I got 2004 Mini cooper S with Cosworth powered.
I love it so far but I have a question about shifting.

When I shifter 1 gear to 2nd and 3rd, even though I release the gas pedal, and push a clutch pedal, RPM doesn't drop and remain as high as right before I release gas pedal. Usually I shifter BTW 2 and 3000 RPM.

It is difficult to explain but when I release gas pedal, RPM should drop, right? but it remain like 1 or 2 sec. more.
Is it because of Super charge and normal?

I never had super charge nor turbo charge manual trans before so kind of curious it.

When performing a typical shift I think my RPMs drop 200-300, but not much more than that.

 

its the heavy azz flywheel we have..... the heaveier it is the longer its gonna take to rev up come back down. the ligheter the faster it raises, and drops revs.

Do be aware lighter flywheel, will make some noise "clutch chatter" harmless but just be aware of it, with the performance boost its easy to ignore it though.
