newb with limp mode - can't recreate

Hey guys,

I'm completely new to mini's. I traded my lifted jeep (which has minimal electronics. lol) in for the mini s a few weeks ago. I did a bunch of searching on this site, as well as around the web in general, and have found plenty,.. but not exactly like my own issue.

3 days ago, we had some pretty hard storms roll through. On my way home, in traffic, i came along an area that had a good bit of standing water. the entire line of traffic forged through the area at a relatively low speed. As i get the majority of the way through,( the patch of road is probably 20 yards long) boom, limp mode. Service engine soon, EML, the works. So i creep a little ways until i can roll down the other side of the hill to pull into a shop. Being the evening before a holiday, they were closed. After shutting the car off, looking on my iPhone for some info, i restarted the car, ran ok, still had lights. So i went down the street to auto zone for them to pull the code. P1688 of course. and they were clueless. When I left there, all lights were gone and car seemed to be ok. Over the last 3 days if researched the problems people have had regarding the P1688. None of which seen to involve water. I have been driving the car, pushed it hard, a/c running, to see if the water was just a coincidence. Haven't had a problem.
Anyone have an insight?
Thanks,
Ray
