Top Down/Top Up Ratio
Who has the Roadster with the most top-down time?
Our timer is currently sitting at 91 hours of total driving time, 73 of it with the top down. It's the rainy season in Florida so it is getting hard to keep it down. I am a severe weather spotter and have RadarScope on my iPhone and have been successful driving with the top down with major storms around keeping a close watch on the radar.
Today, I drove from Winter Park to Windermere (25 miles) with storm cells everywhere and made it all the way without hitting any rain...until I turned into the back alley. The bottom fell out of the cloud as I pulled into the garage. What fun!

I had 79 hours top down on Dec 31, 2012. I reset it the next morning to see how much time I would get this year. I got my roadster March 22nd, 2012. I only drive it with the top up if its raining or too cold.
Portland, OR. (Pacific Northwest). Bought car in December 2012, just broke 11k miles.
Despite the almost endless rain and gloomy weather we get here I've got 75 hours topless in the 6ish months I've had it
If you are going over 60MPH the rain goes right over the top

16,152 miles since April, 2012. 250 hours with top down.
I discovered the "magic number". I can drive top down in rain as long as I'm going 55 mph or faster and stay perfectly dry. I had a Chrysler sebring convert with 65 mph as the magic number. And I mean in RAIN.

Lil Raggi has 2438 miles on him and 21 hours of top down time. Remember, in Iowa we've had rain forest weather this year, and 8" of wet snow on May 12th. Still love the car and no clunks that I know about. Just an annoying rattle in the drivers door latch area.

Are you making excuses??? LOL
A little WD 40 in the door latch worked for me. I thought it was the top, on the side when it was down but it was just the latch. Easy fix
Frig,
I tried that and it work great, for about one week that is, but I want it fixed the right way so I'm off to the dealers this week.
Oh by the way, I am finally getting my license registration this week, and plates. Hey, it only took three months, almost to the day. Guess that Iowa doesn't like cars sold to people from Iowa instead from Iowa dealers. Go figure.

Look for your average mph and divide that by you milage, then subtract you top down hours.
Ah. Then I'm right at 5 1/2 hours with the top up. Which is more than I would have guessed.

The more I think about it, the less sure I am of the methodology for determining top up time. The Openometer keeps ticking even if you're at a full standstill (0mph), but I don't think the Avg. MPH takes into account time that you're not moving. Quick way to test, I suppose, would be to crank the car and let it sit for a few minutes and see if the avg. MPH drops any.
Sure it does. What was your average mph?
I can't imagine what's going to happen next year when the 38 hotrod is finished, cause that will definately draw other peoples attention. At least with the 38, she says, she can hide behind the door B pillar post.
I'm at 93 hours for 11 months and 13,800 miles. At an average of 48 mph, that's 288 hrs total. 93 out of 288 is 32%. I don't think that's too bad considering I drive Rupert every day in all weather conditions and considering he has lived through one Missouri winter and is still one month shy of a full summer.
Just turned 100 hrs top down and noticed something with the openometer. As all of you probably know, the analog openometer records up to 6 hr 59 min before it resets. After the first through the sixth hours an led lights up until all six are lit. When the seventh hour is reached, all six leds flash a few times before they all go out and the cycle is started over. This morning I had 99 hrs and some minutes open so the 1 hour led was lit since the cycle started again at 98 hrs (multiple of seven) and the first hour led lit at 99 hours. When I got to 100 hrs, all the leds flashed a few times and the cycle started over instead of continuing to light up all the leds until 105 hrs (multiple of seven) was reached. MINIs do some funny things.
