I took delivery of my 04 MCS on Thursday April 29th at Brian Harris MINI in Baton Rouge, LA. Everything went perfectly fine, the car is fantastic. To make a long story short I stayed in a nice 3 star hotel in Baton Rouge near the Louisiana State University and this morning I come out to my car to see no center caps, and three lug nuts off each wheel, and bricks next to each wheel. So I collected all the lug nuts and screwed them back in and then took it back to the dealership to be checked out. By the way the car is fine no damage just out four JCW center caps. But I would rather be out four center caps, then have my brand new car damaged in some way. I have a picture of the car with the bricks on each side I will try to post it ASAP. :evil:

 

Sorry to hear that! Luckily you had the locking lug nuts, a wise investment. I just wish there's some way to lock the center cap too.

Put on an extra set of locks.

I don't think that person was so smart and wasted their efforts.
Also if you have an alarm on then if the car is jacked up the alarm will sound.

 

I think I would have snuck out of the area, called the police, and waited for the jacka** to return. Just me though, I'm spiteful like that. :evil:

 

BEWARE! It might have been some Honda or Miata boys looking for your rims since they are the same bolt pattern.

yep, likely one of those roving Miata gangstas, you know how those tough guys are always out ripping things off...

Likely somebody was interrupted midway into the theft, and ran off with what they could get. There are a lot of cheap tools available to gank wheel locks, many of which you can buy at your local Harbor Freight store. They are like door locks, they keep honest people honest, but hardly slow down real crooks.

 

In the age of ebay, thieves don't even need another car to put the rims on, just auction them off to whoever will pay the highest price. When I lived in dc, people would always check ebay to see if their stolen stuff was being auctioned. I had a friend that came outside one morning to see two rims taken off his grand cherokee, and a third one half way off. Lucky for you that the crooks were spooked. Especially in Louisana where people just watch crimes being committed and film them instead of help out (just kidding, but after that news story of the cab driver being robbed in the middle of a crowd thats what i think about when someone mentions Louisana)
