Hello All...

This is my first post on here. I just got a 2013 Mini Countryman S All 4.

I went to this muffler shop yesterday to have the 2nd catalytic converter and resonator deleted and he immediately told me that he won't do the cat (which I understand), so we only did the resonator.

It literally made no difference whatsoever in sound. He told me this before he did it too, that it wouldn't make any difference. I had a 2010 GTI before and removing the resonator alone made a HUGE difference.

So now I'm in the situation where I can't get a new exhaust right now but really want the sound to be better. I can probably find a shop that will turn their heads and remove the 2nd cat for me but I have a couple questions:

1. If I remove the 2nd cat, will I throw a CEL?
2. Is there another O2 sensor after the 2nd cat or just after the 1st one?
3. Will removing the 2nd cat increase the sound by a lot?
4. Will performance change if I remove the 2nd cat?

I just bought this car and I do plan on getting an NM Engineering exhaust so I'm not too worried about smog as I won't be getting it smogged for at least 3 years and I'll have a new exhaust way before that.

I really am only worried about the CEL and poor performance.

Any information is greatly appreciated!!

Now I just need to find a muffler shop that will do it and not worry about it being a federal crime that can get their entire establishment shut down and get them a fat fine and maybe even thrown in jail. :-)
