Coolant Hose , then Sport Button, now entire radio???
Coolant Hose , then Sport Button, now entire radio???
So last week I drove the R58 out to get some gas and when I got out of my car I noticed I was leaving a large trail of coolant/water behind me. After carefully getting it back home, I realized there was a puncture/burst in the coolant tank overflow hose. Right in the middle of the line. I had it towed to MINI and they repaired it the next day as they had to special order the hose.
After I pick up the car and was driving home, I noticed the sport button no longer works. Now, I can't determine exactly when the sport button went out (prior or post the hose issue), but I know it worked before. The DSC button works fine though, I know its not a fuse/module.
The other issue I had was that when you click the key fob twice to unlock the passenger door, the driver's side window would roll down about 8". Weird...
The only thing I had done to the car over the past week was to hard-wire a radar detector. I used a piggy-back fuse on the cig lighter fuse in the passenger panel. It works fine and I don't see how that could cause those issues. I pulled the piggy-back fuse out and put it back to stock, but the sport button still did not work.
So I take it into MINI who looks at it. The tech had never seen a sport button go out nor has he ever seen the window act like that. So they keep the car and do a reflash on it. They also ordered a new sport button.
I called yesterday, and my adviser informed me that when they re-flashed the car, it crashed my radio (MINI Connect w/o NAV) and that they were replacing my entire radio now too...
So my questions are....
Anyone else ever have similar issues?
Anyone have their entire radio replaced?
What should I look for when picking up the car? My first impression would be rattles in the dash if they need to open it all up and replace it.
Anything else I should have them check?

That coolant hose & alternator are on opposite ends of the engine.
I know this isn't much comfort, but stuff happens. Just check everything before you leave the dealers lot. I do know someone who had a radio die in his coupe.
When installing your add a fuse be careful, they can be installed wrong.
