R50/53 Brakes Lines-What should I get?
Brakes Lines-What should I get?
Its time for new brake lines!
After changing my brakes the pedal is still squishy and still having trouble stopping with hard braking.
I put green stuff pads on this time, JCW front calipers and standard rears.
What lines should I get? Im thinking obviously steel braided, but what are the best?
Thanks guys,
Tyler

That is a great price!
My only concern is, are the lines the standard rubber of factory lines?
I read someone had Teflon lines with stainless steel braids but I cant seem to find them again.
I was hoping to get the best lines I could find, I do like to push Claire a bit.

If you change the lines, you should change the fluid completely. I've upgraded my brakes for the track (Hawk HP+ pads, cheap rotors, caliper bushings, stainless brake lines and ATE Super Blue) and I used the Motive bleeder to change the brake fluid. I didn't had the Motive bleeder when I changed eveything and bleeded manually with normal fluid, but once I got it in the mail, I flushed the old fluid out and now the pedal is stiffer than ever.
Actually there are many differences in Stainless brake lines. We had our own WMW brake lines made because we wanted exact fit lines that required NO grinding to install.
The Goodridge lines sell because of the name brand, but you will need to grind on the rear subframe and sometimes on the front to get the line to fit as they don't fit through the factory holes.
Also some lines crimping on the ends we found sub par, and some have a longer crimp end which causes them to fail on the front due to the bent in the line.

Just saying.
Thanks for the input guys, sounds like I'll be getting the Motive bleeder as well thanks to Da_Ghost.
I haven't yet decided on brake lines but I will be soon, I'm glad everyone was so eager to help, it really is a breath of fresh air to have knowledgeable Mini fans who can help.
I'll keep everyone updated.
