Fuming... Scratched rear bumper - best way to fix

I am so mad at my self. I was backing out of a storage garage and backed into a small metal fire pit. It really scratched the paint and chipped the paint on the rear bumper down to the primer in several areas.

Will a paint shop have to completely respray the bumper or can they sand / blend the area and make it look flawless?

All body shops seem to do them different.. But my guess is they would blend the color on that spot and then clear the whole bumper.. But I have done a few where I just blend the color and the clear.. and buff the area in to the rest of the bumper.. Each for there own really.. Im sure others will chime in here for yah..lol

I had the same spot hit but only a jackass kid on a moped hit my rear bumper while screwing around on a street.

Not gonna go into it but they sanded it down, not too much, and repainted the bumper. Looks really freaking good!

Show us pictures when it's done.

Ouch that sucks. Let us know what the cost of something like that is. I have to do the same thing soon.

Ouch, good luck.

I've seen good results with spot repairs... But it depends.. If its physically scratched the plastic they may need to patch and do a full respray. If they do, make sure the pull the bumper from the car. Otherwise it's really hard to get at the nooks and crannies at the body gaps, and leads to chipping later.

One morning while rushing out of my garage.. I backed into my Mother Inlaws car... Talk about a double whammy!
